Dog Breeds in India

When you are looking for a devoted, loving, and protective member for your
extended family, the price is secondary. But paying more won’t necessarily get
you a better dog. Many excellent dogs are available at low prices. You can
also save a great deal by adopting a dog.

You need to consider other factors before making your choice: the dog’s health
issues, its suitability for your environment, and its grooming and training
requirements.

Even to dog lovers who are ready to spend a lot to get a pure pedigree breed
of their choice, cost will be a factor. Pure-breed or rare dogs are usually
expensive; recently a Tibetan mastiff was sold in China for $2 million. Here
is a list of the most expensive dogs in India.

I like Maltese terriers 🙂

I don’t live in India, but can’t see why one couldn’t live there as long as
you kept its hair short in summer. Don’t have one with that really long hair,
unless you want to brush it every day.

Just remember that although they are cuddly and sweet, they are still terriers
and very territorial. Mine is fiercely protective of mother. As I write, he is
cuddled between me and the back of the sofa.

I love Maltese terriers and Irish wolfhounds. My Maltese stole my heart the
first time I saw him, and won’t give it back.

Both the dogs Newfoundland and Saint Bernards are adorable and devoted breeds.
Boston Terriers are are protective hope you have good experience with them. As
you have good experience – can you tell us, which dog shed less Newfoundland
or Saint Bernard?

Barbara on December 22, 2017:

I have owned two Newfoundland dogs, 3 Saint Bernards and one Boston Terrier in
my lifetime. The Newfoundlands have been the best dogs ever. They’re smart
intelligent protective and loving.

This Boston Terrier of my later years, is smart, intelligent, loving and
protective.

My Saint Bernards were gentle, extremely protective, drooled and shed hair
everywhere . LOL.

My best love of all of them was a female Newfoundland by the name of precious.
we were able to love her for 13 years. She gave us her heart and her soul.
When she died she took a big portion of my heart away.
