The 21st ANIDO took place in Kortrijk Xpo on 16 and 17 February, and with4,871 visitors it was an unqualified success. Initial reactions fromexhibitors and visitors were extremely positive: a comprehensive trade show, beautiful stands, an engaging professional atmosphere and plenty of newproducts. In Benelux and Northern France ANIDO has become a permanent fixture, where pet care professionals can get a good sense of the industry’s latesttrends and market developments. This year’s event saw countless new productsdesigned with ecology and sustainability in mind. It was also evident thatsome manufacturers are switching from ‘global’ to ‘local’: items produced athome or in neighbouring countries, ingredients sourced from regionalproducers, and so on. Finally, we noticed that many stand holders are offeringan ‘offline range’. That is: a range designed solely for speciality pet shopsand that isn’t available from the (big) players in the e-commerce market.
This year ANIDO welcomed 4,871 visitors from 22 countries: 2,962 on Sunday and1,909 on Monday, meaning numbers roughly equivalent to those for 2018. A good24.5% of these high and sustained visitor numbers was from outside Belgium, mostly the Netherlands (13%) and France (9.6%).
The winners of the New@Anido-awards 2020 are Edgard & Cooper with the doggydental stick in the FOOD category, Weenect with the latest version of theWeenect GPS-tracker in the category ACCESSORIES & CARE PRODUCTS’ and Suppliesfor pets with the Bio Compostable poop bags in the category Natural &Sustainability.
