Dr. Suzanne Fowler has been announced as RSPCA Australia’s new Chief ScienceOfficer, following the departure of Dr. Bidda Jones AMlast year.
Dr. Fowler most recently worked as Senior University Veterinarian at theAustralian National University (ANU) and spent nine years as ANUs Head ofAnimal Services.
Leading the organisation’s Science and Policy team, Dr. Fowler will use animalwelfare science to inform policies, positions, and campaigns.
“Animals enrich our lives in many ways. From our pets to farm animals to ouramazing native wildlife, we owe it to them to ensure they live the bestpossible life.
“I am looking forward to working with the trusted team at RSPCA Australia toadvocate for continual improvement in the welfare of all animals.”
Richard Mussell, RSPCA Australia CEO, welcomed Dr. Fowler to the role statingthey were impressed by Dr. Fowler’s experience in animal welfare, her passionand drive for improving the lives of animals, and her ability to work withstakeholders to achieve better animal welfare outcomes.
“Suzie will be at the forefront of some of our most important work – includingour continuing push to see a phase out of barren battery cages for layer hensand our campaign to end live animal export.”
