OFI is pleased to announce the formal collaboration to work together inpromoting the ornamental fish industry in China.

Following a meeting between OFI President Shane Willis and Qin Quan Yang,President of the Guangdong Aquarium Association (GAA) the 2 organisations haveagreed to collaborate on issues of mutual interest to help promote the Chineseindustry. The meeting took place at the Bai Yi Cheng fish market in Guangzhouwhich is operated by the GAA and also serves as their office. The Bai Yi Chengmarket will soon replace the Fa de Wah fish market which is set to be re-developed next year. The GAA has over 300 members in Guangdong provinceincluding farmers, exporters and retailers. Their focus is on promoting theindustry in this region famous for fish farming and accessory manufacturing,and they are heavily involved with Aquarama and other fish competitions heldin the region.

It is hoped that the collaboration can help promote the trade in China andhelp OFI members to access this lucrative and fast growing market. ShaneWillis said “China is obviously a major market for our industry that isgrowing rapidly. We hope this collaboration can help to open the Chinesemarket for more OFI members and help the Chinese industry grow in asustainable way”
