The OFI Executive Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr JonathanPoh, Otolith Enrichment (Singapore), as the Secretary General to the ExecutiveBoard (EB). Jonathan is the first Asian representative for the SecretaryGeneral (SG) position and replaces Mr Paul Bakuwel, who has been the SG since2016.

Hailing from Singapore, Jonathan graduated from the University of Tasmaniawith a Bachelor of Science degree in Aquaculture and a Master in BusinessAdministration (MBA). Jonathan is no stranger to the aquarium industry, havingbeen a passionate hobbyist for many years, as well as serving as the AccountManager (Lead) for the land-based fish farms during his time in the Agri-Food& Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA), which provided him with an in-depthunderstanding of the ornamental fish and aquaculture industries. A passionateeducator, Jonathan currently serves as an adjunct and sessional lecturer atTemasek Polytechnic and James Cook University Singapore, for courses relatingto Aquaculture, and believes in inspiring the next generation ofaquaculturists. He has also been sought as an industry consultant forexporters.

Jonathan is excited about his new appointment and said “I am looking forwardto working with the rest of the EB members for the betterment of the industry.I hopes my expertise in aquaculture and agriculture will come in useful and Iam honoured to join in the excellent work that OFI is doing”. OFI President,Shane Willis stated that “I would like to thank Paul Bakuwel our previousSecretary General for all his hard work over the past years. I am also lookingforward to working with Jonathan, it is great to have an injection of youthinto our organization and his background in working within the Singaporeaquarium industry will no doubt be invaluable for our organization.”
