Melbourne, November 16, 2019, grassroots charity, Pets of The Homeless willofficially open Victoria’s very first Pet Food Bank. The celebration will behosted by the charity’s new ambassador, Myf Warhurst who is lending her voiceto help vulnerable people and their pets.

Volunteer led organisation, Pets of The Homeless has donated over 100,000 muchneeded meals to Victorian pets over the last four years. These dogs and catsare the companions, and for some, only family, of Australians experiencinghomelessness or severe financial hardship.

Up until only a few months ago, the charity ran the service out of founder,Yvonne Hong’s suburban garage. It quickly outgrew the small space – burstingat the seams with food and goods donated by the community.

With the help of a government grant, community volunteers, donors and localbusinesses, Pets of the Homeless converted an old mechanic’s workshop inCheltenham into the new home of Victoria’s Pet Food Bank. “Now that we haveall this space, we are calling on the community to help fill it up by donatingto our Giving Day this Wednesday 20 November where each financial donationwill be tripled for 24 hours so we can buy food in bulk.” Yvonne Hong,Founder.
