After a year of coping with the challenges of COVID19, animal loving kids canexpect to have a howling good time during the upcoming school holidays atFuture Vet Kids Camp, led by veterinarians Drs Audrey and Alison Shen from theBondi Vet: Coast to Coast TV show and Aussie Mobile Vet .

Designed and run by veterinarians, Future Vet Kids Camp is a veterinary-inspired 5-day school holiday program in Sydney that caters to kids aged 9 to16 years and encourages responsible pet ownership, the profession ofveterinary medicine and a love and appreciation of all animals and theirhabitats!

Dr Audrey said, “We wish we had a camp like this when we were young thatopened our eyes to different careers in veterinary medicine. It showcases allthe opportunities available as veterinarians and other wonderful professionsin the animal industry. Many campers return every year to learn more andprogress through the camp groups.”

Campers learn about different animal-related professions, genetic diseases,pet nutrition, exotic animals, surgery, animal rescue and wildlifeconservation. Plus, they visit state-of-the-art veterinary hospitals forexclusive behind-the-scenes experiences, and many other exciting excursions!

Dr Alison is also excited about the outstanding presenters involved – fromultrasound, surgical and reptile expert talks to grooming, animal rehab, dogtraining demonstrations, wildlife talks and much more!

“The Junior Vets will learn how to work through real life cases, interpretblood work and imaging, and learn how to draw blood and observe real lifesurgery!” she said. “Campers will even get to meet a marine biologist whoexamines whale snot!”

During the year, the vet sisters have been heavily involved in the treatmentand rehabilitation of wildlife injured by the 2019-2020 summer bushfires andhope to bring the campers some insight into what they have learnt in thisarea.

“Whether or not the kids end up following the path to a career in veterinarymedicine, simply being around lots of different animals (from kittens tosnakes) and animal lovers from across the country have such a positive impacton them,” said Dr Alison.

The Jan 2021 camp is anticipated to fill up just as fast as the last summer,so register now !
